Player Info
Youssef Chentouf joined Wigan Athletic U21s prior to the start of the 2022/23 campaign, after impressing during a successful trial period.
Born of Moroccan descent, Youssef grew up in Barnet and fell in love with football after being blown away by the 2008 World Cup. He played for his local grassroots side Pinnacle FC for a number of years, before the coronavirus pandemic led to the team sadly folding.
After impressing in a showcase game, Youssef joined the Rising Ballers, a non-league football team who are committed to shining a light on the best young prospects across the United Kingdom. Despite being the youngest member of the squad, Youssef quickly adapted to the physical challenges of playing senior football, catching the eye due to his ability to score and create goals.
His performances did not go unnoticed, and after having trials at a number of Premier League and EFL clubs, Youssef opted to sign his first professional contract with Latics in June 2022. It did not take long for the speedy forward to make an impression, and the 18-year-old was involved on the bench for the first team in Latics' Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood Town in August 2022.
Youssef has featured prominently for Stephen Crainey's U21s side at the start of the 2022/23 Professional Development League campaign, opening his account for the Football Club with a well-taken header in the 2-0 away victory at Sheffield Wednesday in September 2022.
