Tom is a product of the pre-academy and signed for the Club as an U9.
An infectious character who excels with his distribution from the back, Tom spent the first half of the 2020/21 campaign playing senior football on a ‘work experience’ deal with Pilkington FC in the North West Counties League. The goalkeeper memorably enjoyed a standout performance for Latics U18s in their 2-0 victory against Charlton Athletic at the Valley, on a fantastic occasion which saw the young Tics crowned as Professional Development League National Champions.
Tom established himself as a mainstay in the starting XI during the 2021/22 campaign, gaining quite the reputation for his ability to produce saves from the penalty spot in the process. As a result of his excellent performances, Tom signed his first professional contract with the Club in the summer of 2022.
After working closely with first-team goalkeepers Ben Amos and Jamie Jones in the summer, Tom headed out on loan at the start of the 2022/23 campaign to join Mossley AFC until the following January.
