Tom Costello signed his first professional contract at Wigan Athletic this summer after impressing during his two-year apprenticeship.
Costello, 18, joined Latics Academy following the collapse of Tranmere Rovers’ academy as an Under 15.
He is a hard-working and robust centre forward who has scored a number of key goals for the Under 18s this season, including in the 2-1 PDL Semi Final victory over Ipswich Town.
A forward player with a real physical presence, Costello won the divisional Golden Boot for the Under 18s Professional Development League in the 2020/21 campaign with an impressive tally of 21 goals.
Having been involved with the Latics first-team squad in pre-season, Costello made his professional debut for Leam Richardson's side in the 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town in the Papa John's Trophy group stage in March 2021.
