Player Info
Luke Brennan signed for Wigan Athletic in June 2022 on the back of a successful trial period.
Luke began his career with fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers at the age of six, impressing throughout his progression through the age groups at Ewood Park. The exciting winger made a real impression during his two-years as a scholar, helping Rovers U18s reach the Semi Finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2019/20, scoring in the victories over Newport County and Arsenal.
He was rewarded with his first professional contract in the following summer, and an excellent start to the season led to Luke making his professional debut as a second-half substitute against Nottingham Forest in October 2020.
Luke went on to gain further senior experience out on loan with National League North side AFC Fylde, linking up with Jim Bentley and former Latics U18s Lead Coach, Nick Chadwick. He made six appearances for the Coasters, before returning to Ewood Park in January 2021.
A winger who can confidently operate on both flanks, Luke contributed to five goals and four assists in 39 appearances for Rovers U23s, before joining Latics on trial during the second-half of the 2021/22 campaign. He made a positive impact during his time with Latics U23s, scoring in the victories over Millwall and Coventry City.
His encouraging displays convinced Latics to secure his services in the summer, and he immediatly made his presence felt at the DW Stadium when he made his first team debut against Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup in August 2022.
Quickly establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet for Stephen Crainey's U21s, Brennan has already contributed to a number of early season assists, scoring his first Latics goal in a 2-0 away victory against Sheffield Wedneday.
