Kieran Lloyd signed his first professional contract with the club in the summer of 2021.
Kieran was recruited by Latics in January 2019, having been previously at Liverpool's academy since the age of eight. He was a standout performer for our U18s side in the 2020/21 campaign, as Latics retained the Professional Development League North title, and became the Professional Development League National Champions against Charlton Athletic at the Valley.
An athletic and attacking-minded full-back, Kieran made his first-team debut at Hull City in the Carabao Cup First Round in August 2021, before making his first start against Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s in the Papa John's Trophy later in the same month.
Kieran went on to spend time out on loan with National League side AFC Fylde, having linked up with Jim Bentley and former Latics U23 coach Nick Chadwick at Mill Farm. After enjoying a superb debut against Spennymoor Town, Lloyd was a mainstay in the Coasters' backline and impressed in the fifth tier of English football.
He played regularly for the U23s upon his return, and after leading by example every time he took the field, Kieran was named as captain of the U21s prior to the 2022/23 Professional Development League campaign. He has been relishing his newfound responsibility at the start of the new season, with his solid performances providing Latics with a real platform to build from.
Kieran has also contributed at the opposite end of the field, scoring his first goal for the U21s in a 3-1 away victory at Hull City in October 2022.
