Harry McHugh signed his first professional contract at Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2021 after joining the Club’s Academy as an U13.
Harry, 18, is an attacking midfielder who is extremely technical and can execute a range of passing. He first arrived at the DW Stadium following a spell at Everton, playing a key role as Latics U18s won the Professional Development League North title in back-to-back seasons, and became PDL National Champions for the first time in the Club's history with a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.
He made the perfect introduction to the Latics faithful on his senior debut for the Club, scoring a stunning goal in Latics' 2-2 draw at Tranmere Rovers in the Papa John’s Trophy. Harry has made a total of seven appearances for the first team, most recently starting for Leam Richardson’s side against Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup last month.
After spending a brief spell on loan with Chester FC at the start of the 2022/23 campaign, Harry has playing regularly for the U21s upon his return, scoring in the victories over Peterborough United and Hull City.
