A central midfielder who is comfortable in possession with both feet, Baba Adeeko signed his first professional contract at the DW Stadium in the summer of 2021.
Hailing from the Republic of Ireland, Baba played a key role in midfield for the U18s throughout his two-year scholarship, as well as featuring for the U23s in the Professional Development League. Baba was an integral part of Peter Murphy’s U18 side that made the Quarter Finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2019/20, and went on to win the Professional Development League North title in 2019/20 and 2020/21.
An energic midfield player who excels in breaking down opposition attacks and retaining possession of the ball, Baba made his professional debut for Latics against Sunderland in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup in September 2021. He later followed it up with his first senior start a month later, impressing in Latics' 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town in the Papa John's Trophy Group Stage.
Now in his second year as a professional at the DW Stadium, Baba has made a strong start to the 2022/23 campaign, scoring twice for the U21s, in addition to featuring for the first team in Latics' Carabao Cup clash against Fleetwood Town in August 2022.
