Sam joined the Wigan Athletic Academy as an U14 and signed a scholarship with the Club in December 2019. The midfielder was part of the Manchester United development squad for three years, before being scouted by Latics whilst playing at grassroots level with Warrington Town. In his final year at Warrington, he was the ‘Player of the Season’, and helped the club win all five tournaments that they entered that summer. A lifelong Latics supporter, Sam is a competitive midfielder with a cultured left foot. His standout attributes are his vision and his excellent passing ability. 

In the first year of his apprenticeship, Sam helped Latics U18s win the delayed 2019/20 LFA Professional Youth Cup against Morecambe, before going on to play a pivotal role in the engine room during the 2021/22 campaign. Now in his second year, Sam will be aiming to continue his progression at the Club he’s supported since a young age.
