Kai arrived at Wigan Athletic in November 2018 following a spell with Premier League side Liverpool FC.

Kai was one of the most sought-after youngsters as an U9, and was chased by the majority of Category One clubs. He was at Liverpool until he was 13 before signing for Latics after an impressive trial game.

A player who is in the second year of his apprenticeship, Kai is a combative midfielder who has excellent technique when passing and receiving the ball, with the ability to start dangerous attacks from deep positions. He has made a strong start to the 2022/23 campaign, and after impressing throughout his progression at the DW Stadium, the 17-year-old signed his first professional contract in November 2022.
