Ellie Cleary has been voted as the Club's first-ever Wigan Athletic Women's Player of the Year

Cleary has netted 48 goals in the Club's first-ever season and has made history as the first-ever recipient of the Player of the Year prize
Laura Heslip finished second, while fellow attacker Molly Hassall was named in third place

Ellie Cleary has made Wigan Athletic history, being voted as the Club's inaugural Wigan Athletic Women's Player of the Year.

Cleary, 22, helped fire Emmerson Boyce's side to the Lancashire Women's County League Championship title after scoring a remarkable 48 goals. She also topped the assists charts, laying on a further 25 goals for her teammates.

Making history has been nothing new to Cleary following her arrival from Chorley last summer, as she scored the Club's first-ever goal against Haslingden Ladies and backed it up by netting a hat-trick against Blackburn Eagles in the Women's first-ever game at the Brick Community Stadium. She has been an inspiration both on and off the field, with her excellent form prompting young supporters to don 'Cleary 17' on the back of their shirts at both men's and women's fixtures.

Laura Heslip and Molly Hassall ranked second and third in the online vote.
