  • Robinson: "We’ll be expecting them to come out in full force but we’ll be ready as ever and hopefully we’ll get a positive result.”

Luke Robinson has been enjoying his recent run in the starting line-up and is hoping to continue to provide the team with a platform to build from.

It has been a positive six-week period for the Heatable Latics Academy graduate, as following on from netting his first professional goal in the 1-0 win over Cambridge United at the Brick Community Stadium, Robinson has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet in recent weeks.

Having appeared off the bench against Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers, Robinson has started in Latics' last three league matches, being part of a defence that has conceded just one goal in those fixtures.

Ryan Lowe's side will be determined to maintain their impressive defensive record and increase their output at the other end of the field when facing Shrewsbury Town on Good Friday, and Robinson is hoping that the Tics can claim a big three points in Shropshire.

“I was delighted to get a positive result against a team who are doing well this season. They (Wrexham AFC) are my old team, so it was nice to get a good result and a clean sheet," he told Latics TV when reflecting on the goalless draw against Wrexham AFC.

“We created the better chances in the game and nullified all their threats which was a bonus for us as defenders.

“Our job as defenders is to keep the ball out of the net and we’ve done that brilliantly this season.

“I’m feeling like I’m playing my best football - especially since Christmas. I’ve felt back to my normal self, and shown that when I played. I’ve had a nice run of games and we’ve had some decent results. They haven’t been easy games by any stretch.

“We’ve struggled to find the net on too many occasions this season. We know that and it’s probably been our downfall. We’ve got five games to go - and we need to put on a good show.

“We need to keep doing what we’re doing at the back end of the field and improve what we’re doing at the top end of the field.

“The Friday-Monday fixtures over Easter are always good - and I really like it when games come thick and fast because it keeps you on your toes.

“We’re looking forward to it - we know the position we are in, and we’re still trying to fight to secure our league status.

“It’ll be a tough test at Shrewsbury. We’ll be expecting them to come out in full force but we’ll be ready as ever and hopefully we’ll get a positive result.”
