- Latics forward looks ahead to Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Exeter City
- Godo: “Every game is tough in this league. If we put our minds to it and trust ourselves, we can get the three points and keep moving."
For Martial Godo, consistency will be key for Wigan Athletic as they continue a busy February with a home fixture against Exeter City at the weekend.
Latics will welcome Gary Caldwell's Grecians to the DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon, determined to back up their superb away win at Peterborough United with another three points.
Shaun Maloney's men will be targeting a hat-trick of victories against Exeter City, having enjoyed success at St James Park in both Sky Bet League One and the Emirates FA Cup.
Godo was on the scoresheet in the league meeting last October, and having returned from a long injury lay-off at the beginning of 2024, the Fulham loan star is hoping he can positively contribute as much as possible between now and the end of the season.
“It was a great win away from home against a good side," he told Latics TV, reflecting on the 3-2 victory at Peterborough United.
"It’s always good to get three points, keep climbing up the table and keep our form going. Peterborough is far away from Wigan, and at the end of the day, it’s who we do it for - the fans and the Club.
“I’ve never really been injured before, and it was my first injury. It allowed me to grow physically and mentally as well. Being back out there with the boys was a good feeling. I need to keep stepping up and up.
“I have to remain consistent and confident to kick onto a new level, and start getting goals and assists for the team."
Latics could claim their fourth victory in five league matches against the Grecians, and Godo expressed the importance of continuing their progression.
“Every game is tough in this league. If we put our minds to it and trust ourselves, we can get the three points and keep moving.
“We need to be consistent, apply our hard work from training, and trust in the Gaffer and the way he plays.
“We have to that winning mentality and competitiveness. From where we were at the start of the season, it’s amazing and we have to keep going."
