Ahead of the full launch later this month, Wigan Athletic have provided the following information about the new Ticketmaster Sport platform.

The Ticketmaster Sport system offers a digital-first approach to ticketing where tickets are primarily purchased online and delivered digitally, providing a more environmentally friendly and sustainable solution.

In advance of the launch, we have provided fans with some essential information to assist with the transition to the new ticketing provider:

Will I need to change my Wigan Athletic ticketing account login details?

Yes. All current ticketing accounts will need to be updated. Anyone who is not a 2023/24 Season Ticket Holder will need to register for a new account before being able to purchase with all details up to date.

Can I purchase tickets for more than one person?

Yes, you will be able to purchase multiple tickets for multiple attendees in one go. Every seat selected will be required to have an individual account and customer reference number assigned to it so we have full details of every supporter who will be attending.

Will Season Ticket holders have priority access to ticket sales?

Yes. Giving our most loyal supporters buying priority has been one of the main reasons for change. We intend, where possible, to give priority to Season Ticket holders for all major events including away fixtures and cup games.

Will my season ticket seat be reserved for cup fixtures?

We intend, where possible, to give this option to Season Ticket holders. This will be confirmed on a game-by-game basis and will be dependent on which stands are open for home supporters to purchase in, for example, the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

How do I register my account as a Season Ticket holder?

Existing user details and logins will not work for their new account. 2023/24 Season Ticket holders will be able to activate their account but using the email address assigned to their previous account. We will send an email with details on how to do this closer to the time. For Season Ticket holders who do not have an email address assigned to their account, we ask that you please email ticketoffice@wiganathletic.com with your full name, postal address, contact phone number and current email address.

What action do I take as a Non-Season Ticket Holder?

Non-Season Ticket holders will be required to register a completely new account. You will need to access the new platform and follow the simple steps identified to register a new account which will be communicated via email to all Season Ticket Holders ahead of launch on the new system going live.

Will there be booking and transaction fees for home and away league fixtures?

There will be no booking fees or transaction fees charged when buying tickets online that are delivered digitally. There will be a nominal fee of £1.50 charged where postage and packaging of tickets are required and selected by supporters whether purchased online or through the Ticket Office. As part of the Club’s commitment to sustainability and the environment, we are proactively encouraging fans to support our campaign to reduce the Club’s carbon footprint by reducing paper waste and postage of physical tickets. In the instance where the Club reaches a cup final, there will be an additional administration fee of £2 applied to all tickets purchased.

Can I still have a physical Season Ticket?

Yes, however, as part of the Club’s commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and the use of non-essential plastics, the Club will be issuing Match and Season Tickets digitally in the first instance. There will be an additional charge of £5 for those supporters who wish to have a physical Season Ticket. In these instances, requests should be made to the DW Stadium Ticket Office.

Will we have the option of digital tickets when it comes to purchasing away tickets?

We will work with clubs across the leagues to ensure we use digital away match tickets where possible. This option is not always available to us and is often dependent on the opposition club. For certain away fixtures fans will have a clear interactive seating plan to interact with when selecting their chosen seats.

Will the Ticket Office still be open?

Yes! Supporters requiring assistance with ticket purchases will still be able to visit or speak with the ticket office in person, by calling 01942 311 111 or by emailing ticketoffice@wiganathletic.com. All non-digital purchased tickets online will be subject to an additional administration fee of 50p per transaction order.

Does the partnership between Wigan Athletic and Ticketmaster mean fans will have to go to Ticketmaster.co.uk to purchase tickets?

No. Ticketmaster is providing the technology that will power Wigan Athletic’s ticketing platform. The fan ticketing experience will remain on www.wiganathletic.com. Supporters who purchase online, by phone or in person can continue doing this through the same channels.

What does Official Ticketing Partner mean?

Ticketmaster will be the exclusive ticketing provider for all of Wigan Athletic ticketing services. The partnership will see Wigan Athletic benefiting from the latest in ticketing systems and the continuous improvements to those systems to better the fan experience.

If I have a problem with my ticket, will I have to contact Ticketmaster’s customer service?

No. You will continue to contact the DW Stadium Ticket Office for all your ticketing requirements.

What changes will I see on the updated ticketing platform?

You will see some design changes to our updated ticketing platform. Fans will also have greater control over how they manage their tickets online using Ticketmaster’s state-of-the-art platform.

What is the functionality of the new platform for buying multiple tickets on one email address, disabled and carers tickets?

The system will offer accessible tickets online for those who have pre-registered through the disability scheme with the Club as well as digital print-at-home and mobile wallet tickets. Users can have as many accounts under one email address and each member will have a unique client ref to identify and assign tickets to other people within the network to speed up the booking process especially when it comes to away games with friends and family. There will also be additional features such as: View from seat, interactive seating map and ticket exchanges.

Will I need a Ticketmaster account?

You will be required to log in to the ticketing platform through www.wiganathletic.com as you usually would and register an account through the Club's platform which is provided by the Ticketmaster service platform. If you have registered on any other Ticketmaster platform or login service this will not work on the designated Club website as you will be registering with the Club's database.

Does the ticketing platform apply to just match tickets?

No, Season Tickets and any other match tickets and memberships bought for upcoming club events will be hosted on the new platform.

Can I transfer my ticket if I can’t attend a home game?

Yes, you will still be able to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member if you cannot attend a home fixture. Any upgrade purchases required will also be available to be completed via your online account also.

Can I buy tickets for my friends and family?

Yes. 'My Network' is a feature of your online account which allows you to manage the accounts of friends or family members. You can add up to 20 members to your online network. Once a supporter has been added to your account, you will be able to purchase tickets on their behalf, subject to availability. If a supporter gives you full management rights over their account, you will also be able to purchase ticketing products which have been reserved in their name. More information on how to use ‘My Network’ will be released in due course.

Will my ticketing history data be saved?

Previous ticketing purchase history will not be brought over to the new Ticketmaster platform apart from current season ticket data. Upon launch, a full and comprehensive ticketing history will be recorded for any tickets purchased from the register onwards.

Will a points system be introduced via the platform for purchasing limited allocation tickets?

A loyalty points scheme will be introduced in the 2024/25 season. Members will also earn points with more details to follow.

Will Season Tickets still be available in instalments?

Yes, full details on season ticket prices and payment schemes will be announced in the coming months.

Are there any additional charges for Season Tickets paid via instalments?

There will be a small direct debit charge of £5 to cover administration costs for this service. Full details on season tickets for 2024/25 will be communicated in due course.

Will the Season Card still be the same, or will they all transfer to mobile?
