Wigan Athletic are delighted to confirm the loan signing of Luxembourg international Danel Sinani from Norwich City until the end of the season, subject to EFL and FA approval.
Born in Serbia, Sinani moved to Luxembourg as a five-year-old and began his career with Racing FC Union Luxembourg. He enjoyed a successful three-year stay with Racing, with his eye-catching performances eventually leading to a move to F91 Dudelange in 2017.
It was with Dudelange where Sinani really began to flourish, helping the Club win two Luxembourg National Division titles, with the 2019/20 campaign seeing Sinani feature in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
The 25-year-old scored four goals in his side's Group Stage matches against APOEL Nicosia and Sevilla, and his impressive goal-scoring record for Dudelange did not go unnoticed, joining Norwich City in the summer of 2020.
A loan spell with Belgian side Beveren preceded his move to Huddersfield Town last term, where Sinani helped the Terriers finish in third place and reach the Championship Play-Off Final. He featured in a total of 39 league games, scoring on six occasions.
The 25-year-old has played 18 times in all competitions for the Canaries this season prior to his move to the DW Stadium on Deadline Day.
A forward-thinking player who is capable of playing in a number of positions, Sinani has won over 50 caps for his country following his debut in 2017, memorably being named their Player of the Year in 2019.
Welcome, Danel!
