Leah Darbyshire, School Sport and Cohesion Coach at the Trust said: “They do lots of things working on their fundamental movements [including] sport specific skills, and we just break it all down. They end up gaining more confidence and have a better knowledge of sport and PE overall.”

Miss Kelsall, PE Coordinator at the school said that the sessions have had a positive impact on the students and even help them thrive in their other lessons at school, adding: “The Wigan Athletic coaches are really passionate and that passes onto the children.”

“They develop resilience with the children and teamwork, we’ve seen a real increase in children being able to work together effectively and follow the rules in lessons.”

“We’ve got our sporting values which are pride, respect, integrity, determination and enjoyment, and the really knowledgeable, excellent coaches at Wigan Athletic also help us to promote those values.”

“We’re incredibly proud to be recognised as School of the Week.”
