We have an action-packed matchday to welcome in the new season at the DW Stadium
Plenty of activities will be taking place on the day, including a Live Singer, Stilt Walkers and the unveiling of Giant Flags commissioned by the WIgan Athletic Supporters Club

We have a jam-packed matchday on Saturday 12 August, as Latics face Northampton Town in their first home game of the 2023/24 Sky Bet League One campaign.

Over the summer, the Wigan Athletic Supporters Club met First Team Manager Shaun Maloney and representatives from the Football Club with the aim of improving the fan experience and atmosphere at the DW Stadium on a matchday.

One of the initiatives agreed upon was to 'Turn it Blue and White' for the home season opener against Northampton with fans encouraged to wear blue and white and encourage friends to do the same. The Supporters Club will be unveiling three specialist waver flags which will be proudly displayed behind the South Stand goal throughout the season, with a giant 'legends' flag also being commissioned.

Stilt Walkers will also be making their way around the DW Stadium, handing out flags for junior supporters to wave when the teams enter the field.

We would like to encourage all fans to be in their seats at the DW Stadium by 2:30pm, as The North West Singer will be covering a number of popular chart songs before singing his original 'I Still Believe' song which celebrates the proud history of the Football Club.

The Family Zone will also be open for Latics' first home Sky Bet League One Fixture against newly promoted side, Northampton Town.

With football activities, table tennis, the ‘Game Zone’ and more all available to enjoy, the Family Zone is the perfect way for junior supporters to enjoy the pre-match build-up.

Latics fans will also have the special opportunity to have their photo taken with the FA Cup trophy! Until 2pm, the FA Cup will be held in the Family Zone's photo booth, where fans are invited to join us for photos.

As Latics return to the DW Stadium for the first time this season, Wigan Athletic supporters are also invited to turn it ‘Blue and White’ and welcome Shaun Maloney’s side back home.

Through this initiative from The Official Wigan Athletic Supporters Club, a special Stilt performer will be in and around the Family Zone handing out Blue and White flags for fans to proudly display against Northampton Town.
