Wigan Athletic Community Trust name St John Fisher School of the Week after success of Premier League Inspires Programme

Community Trust Staff have been visiting St John Fisher to deliver the Premier League Inspires Programme
The Programme aims to enhance the life chances and develop the confidence and motivation of students
Students were given tickets and behind-the-scenes access to Wigan Athletics’ home match against Middlesbrough

Wigan Athletic Community Trust have named St John Fisher as their school of the week, following the success of the Premier League Inspires programme in the school.

Staff members from the Community Trust have been delivering the programme to two cohorts with weekly sessions for the students.

The sessions are aimed at enhancing life chances, developing confidence and creating positive attitudes to help the students achieve their full potential.

Wigan Athletics’ Dave Coppin, who has been running the PL Inspires sessions at St John Fisher, said “Any good work that’s being done should always be recognised. St John Fisher should be very proud of themselves.

Attendance has been very good, and the behaviour of the students has been improving in class.”

St John Fisher’s Inclusion Manager Gareth Murray added “It seems to be having a positive effect on the young people and they seem to be really enjoying it, so I’m really impressed with the impact.

I’m extremely proud and I believe it’s a really good working partnership with Wigan Athletic and St John Fisher.”
