We are delighted to complete the permanent transfer of Republic of Ireland international Jamie McGrath.

McGrath, 25, has joined Latics on a two-and-a-half-year contract, with the Club paying an undisclosed fee for his services.

Capped six times by the Republic of Ireland since being handed his debut in June last year, McGrath has enjoyed an impressive rise after making his debut for St Patrick’s Athletic just before his 18th birthday in September 2014.

He helped St Patrick’s win the League of Ireland Cup in both 2015 and 2016, winning the Club’s Young Player of the Year award in the latter year.

In January 2017, McGrath signed for Dundalk and impressed throughout his three seasons at Oriel Park, featuring in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, while also helping his side win back-to-back League of Ireland titles.

McGrath, who played alongside Latics academy graduate Jordan Flores at Dundalk, moved to Scotland in January 2020 to join Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.

During his stay at St Mirren Park, McGrath has made 79 appearances, scored 20 goals and added seven assists, form that contributed to him being named the 2020/21 St Mirren Player of the Year.

An international teammate of current Latics James McClean and Will Keane, McGrath has familiar faces in the ranks at the DW and supporters will have the chance to welcome both Jamie and fellow new signing Glen Rea at the DW Stadium around ten minutes before kick-off ahead of Tuesday night’s home clash with Oxford United.
