Lang on his third goal: “It’s a finish I work on a lot with Beatts [James Beattie] a lot and it was nice to share a bit of a celebration with him as well, because it’s a finish we have worked on a lot.”

Wigan Athletic forward Callum Lang told Latics TV that he can’t get enough of Latics away days as his double helped Leam Richardson’s side on their way to a 3-1 win at Lincoln City on Saturday.

Reflecting post-match, Lang said:

“When you’re facing the away end in the second-half, you just come out excited and want to get one and celebrate with them.

“It’s felt like it’s been Saturday-Tuesday for the whole season, but we keep on working through it, keep on getting results and hopefully we carry that on to the end.

“We have another away day on Tuesday, we’ll be professional, we know the job isn’t done and there is still a long way to go, we don’t want to get too carried away after a big result like this – I am probably the worst for it, with the aways days, getting carried away! We just have to focus on Tuesday and get the right result.”

On his third goal, a finish not too dissimilar to strikes at Plymouth Argyle and Wycombe Wanderers, Lang added:

“It’s a finish I work on a lot with Beatts [James Beattie] and it was nice to share a bit of a celebration with him as well.

“I am pretty confident when I get in that position – that’s my sort of finish – it was nice to add a third, defensively we were solid and we know once we goal or two up we can be really solid.”

Josh Magennis assisted Lang’s first and won the ball back in a dangerous area for Latics’ third, and reflecting on the Northern Ireland international’s performance, Lang added:

“Sometimes we have to go a bit longer into Josh [Magennis] but it works well, he’s very dangerous and you know he is going to win all of his duels.

“He’s a solid centre forward and gives me a lot of time and space, and makes the game easier for me.”
