Speaking to Latics TV after netting the crucial winning goal in his side's 1-0 win at Northampton Town on Tuesday evening, striker Callum Lang quickly shifted the focus to his team mates, commenting on the collective effort needed to secure the result:

"Every game is massive for us, so it's great to get three points and to be able to celebrate a really hard-earned win against a side who make it difficult for you.

"We know what we need to do as a team to achieve our challenge, it's something we need to do every game from now on - we battled hard tonight, but we need to make sure we keep it up.

"A lot of lads have come into the group over the last few weeks, including myself, and sometimes it takes a while for players to gel together and know each others' game.

"It's been a few weeks now and we need to start making that process work a bit quicker because we need to get more results.

"We were all on the same page today and we put a good shift in, it was a really good team performance."

On the match-winning moment, Lang added:

"I was waiting for the ball to drop like that. Leam told me to play on the shoulder and that's how it worked out for me in that moment.

"Given the conditions, it was always going to be a game of few chances and luckily it dropped nicely for me to get on the end of and score the winner.

"I've always tried to work as hard as possible in my career, so I'm happy to work as that lone striker, I enjoy doing that job up against defenders.

"It's tough when you're playing against a back three, but with the support of Keano and Thelo, I enjoyed it and I think we made our impact on the game."
