Latics have completed the signing of central defender Nathan Cameron on a short-term contract, subject to EFL approval.

The 28-year-old links up with John Sheridan's Latics squad ahead of the first home game of the 2020/21 season on Saturday against Gillingham.

Before signing his short-term contract, Cameron had been training with Latics to maintain fitness and featured in a 1-0 friendly victory against AFC Fylde earlier this month.

Cameron, who began his career at Coventry City, has extensive EFL experience, with spells at Northampton Town, Bury and Macclesfield Town and has played more than 200 times across the Championship, League One and League Two.

Speaking about the signing, manager John Sheridan said:

"Nathan's been in for a while training and getting his fitness. He's got promotion on his CV, lots of experience under his belt and his experienced will be valuable to the young lads in our team."

Nathan will wear the number 5 shirt during his time at the club.
