Defender feels Latics showed their visitors too much respect in first 45 at the DW Stadium

Tilt: “I think we ran all over them in the second half.”

Wigan Athletic defender Curtis Tilt says Latics’ draw with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon has given John Sheridan’s side the opportunity to build.

Latics face a busy run of in the next few weeks and ended their recent losing run with the point against Ryan Lowe’s side was well deserved according to the on loan Rotherham United man.

“I think the performance first half we showed them a little too much respect by letting them play out,” Tilt said. “We got in at half time and the management staff got into us. Second half we came out, stayed high and pressed them high showed them no respect and I think we ran all over them the second half.

“Will took his goal well, so I think we need to start games the way we end them. The three games I’ve been in we’ve always been playing better in the second half but if we go like that from minute one then we’ll be alright.”

“We’ve stopped the rot of losing after we’ve lost a couple on the bounce. I feel like we’ve played alright in games. We just need a bit of luck. Now that’s stopped and we’ve got the draw and now we need to build on that and get our way up the table.”

In the second-half, Tilt and substitute Adam Long – who replaced Darnell Johnson at half-time – made important blocks for their side when the visitors countered.

“Longy came in and did great,” Tilt added. “He made some great blocks and did really well as a young lad stepping in with no fear.

“It was a sore one for me, I’ve never felt pain like it [Tilt said of his block that caught him in the midriff].”
