The big headline from Latics' loanees at the weekend came in the Emirates FA Cup, with 2019 goal scoring hero Callum Lang continuing his affinity for the competition by making his return from a three-month injury as a late substitute in Shrewsbury Town's 1-1 draw at Bristol City.

Although he didn't score this time like he did for Oldham Athletic last season at Fulham's Craven Cottage, it was a special day for the striker, who has been out with a fractured metatarsal since the beginning of October 2019.

His Salop team mates turned in an excellent performance in the third round, with Sean Goss' 48th minute equaliser earning a replay against Shrewsbury's Sky Bet Championship opposition.

Owen Evans

It wasn't just in the FA Cup that our loanees enjoyed their weekend, with goalkeeper Owen Evans in Sky Bet League Two action for Macclesfield Town, keeping his seventh clean sheet of the season to help the Silkmen to a 1-0 victory at home to Cambridge United.

Arthur Gnahoua's fifth minute goal was the difference between the two sides, with Evans and co. keeping it tight at the back to earn a crucial win.

Macclesfield sit 22nd in the League Two table on 23 points, five points above Morecambe who sit bottom of the league in the one relegation spot.

Jack Sanders

U23 defender Jack Sanders was also celebrating a clean sheet on Saturday, as his Blyth Spartans side won 1-0 away at Kidderminster Harriers to record a crucial victory in their bid to climb out of the relegation places in the National League North.

Sanders played the full 90 minutes for Blyth, helping them up to 20 points in 21st position in the table, three points behind Curzon Ashton who they play this coming Saturday.

Elsewhere

U23 midfielder Will McGuffie was an unused substitute in Stafford Rangers' 2-0 away defeat to Grantham Town in the Northern Premier League. The loss leaves Stafford bottom of the table on 12 points.
