  • Three initial pre-season friendlies confirmed for Wigan Athletic
  • Latics to host Premier League Burnley at the DW Stadium on Saturday 27 July after travelling to Chester FC and AFC Fylde
  • Further friendlies to be confirmed, including another DW Stadium fixture

Wigan Athletic will host Premier League Burnley on Saturday 27 July as part of their preparations for the 2019-20 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Sean Dyche will bring the Clarets to the DW Stadium a week before our league programme commences, with Paul Cook going up against his former club.

Cook will also take his side to Chester FC and AFC Fylde in the 2019-20 pre-season, with a further DW Stadium fixture set to be confirmed for Wednesday 24 July and other away fixtures still to be announced.

Latics’ players return to training on 22 June and travel on a warm-weather training camp the following day before their first official pre-season fixture takes place on Saturday 6 July at Chester FC (kick-off 3pm).

The following Tuesday night, Cook will take Latics to AFC Fylde for a 7:45pm kick-off, before his side host Burnley at the DW on Saturday 27 July.

A further DW Stadium friendly will take place on Wednesday 24 July, whilst Latics will also play an away friendly on Saturday 20 July.

Please note the fixture on Saturday 20 July has since been confirmed as Bradford City (A).

Cook’s side may also face away friendlies on Saturday 13 July and Tuesday 16 July, albeit this is not guaranteed.
