Club's annual visits continue as Crusty and Kieffer Moore take part in festive activities.

Pupils at Westfield Community School enjoyed a special festive visit from Latics forward Kieffer Moore and club mascot Crusty the Pie last Friday.

The visit, which also took place on National Christmas Jumper Day, was part of the club’s Christmas appearances in December.

The children took part in festive games and craft put on by Wigan Athletic Community Trust staff, which included making cards and snowflakes, with Moore enjoying the opportunity to meet some of the children.

He said: “It’s been really good and really enjoyable meeting the kids and finding out what they want for Christmas and what they’ve been up in class.

“The visits give us the chance to inspire them, take them through our experiences in life and help them out.

“Obviously being the Community Trust’s sponsored player this season, this visit has been a long time coming and it’s something that I really enjoy doing.”

Latics have had an association with the school, located next to the Community Trust’s Montrose Skills Hub, for a number of years, delivering the Premier League Primary Stars programme which includes PE and classroom based activities.

The school were also the club’s School of the Week with pupils attending Euxton’s training facility last Monday as well as being given the chance to play on the pitch at half time during Latics’ game with Huddersfield Town.

Tim Sheriff, Headteacher at Westfield, said: “It’s excellent the club decided to visit schools over Christmas. For the kids to have one of their heroes come in and do things that they do at this time of the year has made it a real special occasion.

“We’ve had a very busy week this week with nativities and School of the Week going on so it’s crowned off a really special week having Kieffer visit us."
