Aged 16-19 and want a career in sport? Study with Wigan Athletic and represent Latics in competitive fixtures and earn a number of qualifications at the same time!

Ran in partnership with Wigan & Leigh College, Wigan Athletic Community Trust's Level 2 Football and Education programme is a tailored sports course for 16-19 year olds which enables the you to gain a number of qualifications and also provide a starting point to begin a career in the sports industry.

The course also provides the opportunity to represent Latics in the Community & Education Football Alliance League playing competitive fixtures against other EFL clubs in the North West.

How will I study?

You will learn through classroom based lectures at Wigan Athletic Community Trust's Montrose Skills Hub, as well as in classrooms at the club's new facility on Stadium Way, home of Wigan Athletic Academy. Whilst in education, you will train and play for Wigan Athletic, training twice a week at the Academy and also playing competitive fixtures against other clubs at Christopher Park, home of Latics' academy teams.

Bespoke work experience is also offered, working alongside the Community Trust's head coaches in many different settings, whether it would be community delivery or within schools helping and assisting in delivery of sessions.

Full Wigan Athletic kit will be provided and expected to be worn in education and for training. Lunch is also provided for education days.

A typical week for the programme is shown below:

Monday: AM - Education | PM - Training at Stadium Way
Tuesday: Maths and English (If applicable)
Wednesday: All day - CEFA fixture
Thursday: AM - Education | PM - Training at Stadium Way
Friday: AM - Training at Stadium Way
